The Beginning
Mosquito protection for safari tourists
SAFERSOX specialises in mosquito protection clothing. Our socks with integrated insect protection are aimed primarily at travellers in tropical regions – and therefore come in classic beige.

Theatres search for beige sports socks – and find us
Several opera houses and dance ensembles in Europe were searching for beige sports socks for stage and class use. Their search led them to SAFERSOX – and they ordered regularly, in large quantities. We wondered: why do theatres have so many mosquito problems?

The Conversation
We listen – and understand
We got in touch with our unexpected customers. The answer was simple: no mosquitoes, but an ideal sock. Our beige sports sock happened to have exactly what dancers need – no grip, good glide resistance, durable material. It was not planned. But it worked.

The Expert
Judith Adam brings the expertise
Through our network we met Judith Adam – costume designer, working for numerous renowned houses across Europe. She explained the real problem: dance socks are hard to find. Either logos disrupt the stage picture, the grip is wrong, the material gives too much or too little, or the skin tone does not match. Stages often had to re-dye socks – time-consuming, costly, unsatisfying.

The Development
From sports sock model to a true dance sock
Together with our producer we developed a dedicated dance sock based on our proven sports sock model. Same DNA – but with reinforced stress zones, optimised material and four skin tones: Peach, Almond, Cinnamon and Cacao. No logos. No grip. Designed for the stage.

The Test
Prototypes. Real dancers. Real feedback.
We handed our prototypes to selected professional dancers for testing – including Chloe Albaret. The feedback was direct, concrete and valuable. Together with input from Judith Adam, every piece of feedback went into the final version.
"I am firmly convinced that these socks could be really useful for the dance scene. What I love about them is that they come in four different skin tones, that they have no visible logo – which is almost impossible to find here – and that they are made of good material. They are thick and have extra padding at the front which gives the feet more protection, and they are super soft on the inside without being slippery on the outside. Exactly what we want!"

Professional dancer and one of the first testers of the SAFERSOX prototype. Her direct, hands-on feedback played a decisive role in shaping the final dance sock.
