Our dance socks were developed in close collaboration with experienced professionals from the dance scene.

Special thanks go to costume designer Judith Adam (chairwoman of the Association of Scenographers), Saskia Scherer (deputy head of the costume department at the Staatstheater Darmstadt), the entire team and ensemble of the Salzburg National Theatre and Chloé Albaret (professional dancer and winner of the Dutch dance award ‘Zwaan’ in the category ‘most impressive dance performance’)

The specially coordinated material mix of cotton, nylon and elastane ensures that the sock always sits securely on the foot. Whether it's fast turns, jumps or movements close to the floor - SAFERSOX dance socks offer stability and flexibility in perfect harmony. Cotton provides a soft, comfortable feel, while nylon increases durability and elastane guarantees the necessary support and fit. This combination ensures that the socks neither slip off the foot nor have a restrictive effect.

When dancing, it is crucial that the socks neither slip too much nor stick too much to the floor. Our dance socks glide smoothly over the floor and enable fluid movement without the dancer losing control. This characteristic makes them particularly suitable for demanding movement sequences and quick changes of direction in contemporary dance and other modern dance styles.

An outstanding feature of our dance socks is the reinforced sole. It offers just the right amount of cushioning to absorb movements and jumps without losing the feeling for the floor. Especially in modern dance, where movement flows must be seamless and dynamic, a well-cushioned sole is crucial. Dancers can concentrate fully on their movements without having to worry about unpleasant bumps or the risk of injury.

It is important for dancers to feel comfortable in their shoes or socks, especially during long training sessions or intensive performances. Our dance socks are not only functional, but also comfortable. The soft feel of the material gently moulds to the skin and prevents uncomfortable sweating or a constricting feeling. Our dance socks are available in two versions - both in the classic crew length and in ancle height. This gives dancers the choice to select the sock height that suits their individual preferences and movement needs. Some prefer ankle socks for a light and free feeling on the leg, while others feel more comfortable with crew socks. No matter which height you choose, both variants are equipped with the same high-quality features and offer optimum comfort and support for every performance.

As a special detail, each SAFERSOX dance sock has the phrase ‘MERDE!’ embroidered on the inside - a traditional lucky charm that dancers wish each other before a performance.

The tradition goes back to a time when visitors came to the theatre in horse-drawn carriages: The more ‘Merde’ (horse manure) collected in front of the entrance, the better attended the performance was. This small, humorous detail adds a touch of dance history to every performance and reminds dancers to take the stage with confidence and joy.
