Polygiene silver chloride was chosen because it effectively neutralises odour-causing bacteria while being skin- and environmentally friendly. It is made from 100% recycled silver and is free from nano-silver, making it particularly safe and sustainable.

The antibacterial freshness function remains effective for the entire lifespan of the Merino Socks and does not wash out in the washing machine, provided that no fabric softener is used and the temperature does not exceed 40 degrees.

Is the treatment of Merino Socks with silver chloride associated with health risks?

No, the silver treatment is done with the active ingredient developed by the Swedish company Polygiene and is harmless to health. Polygiene does not use nanosilver, which could potentially penetrate the skin. Instead, the silver ions used by Polygiene are over 100 times larger and therefore too big to penetrate the skin. Polygiene textiles have medical approval (category 1) and are also safe for direct contact with the skin.

Can the treated Merino Socks disrupt the bacterial balance of the skin?

No. Studies have shown that the silver chloride used has no negative effects on the skin's natural bacterial flora. The silver ions are only active on the outside of the textile material and do not affect perspiration or the natural bacterial flora.

Can the treated Merino Socks increase the risk of skin irritation or allergies?

No. The active ingredient in Polygiene is very skin-friendly and carries the medical category 1 quality seal, which is also used for products with direct skin contact, such as bandages. There is no evidence that Polygiene increases the risk of skin irritation or allergies.
